February at the Museum

Hello February!

I’m currently at the Tucson Gem & Mineral show in Arizona. I’ve been coming here with my dad and sister since I was a kid. The show itself has changed so drastically (who attends, who sells, and mostly - the prices), but it is still a really fun tradition for us.

And I always come home with some treasures. These are from last year’s show:

We finally started taking apart the museum. It has been heartbreaking, but also exciting. It’s really fun to reimagine the displays and sort through so many of the collections with new spaces in mind.

Very pleased with our new playing card display, which fits so perfectly in a shallow drawer:

The trailer has been so so so slowly coming along. Everything is taking longer than anticipated! But it’s been really satisfying to finally see it starting to come together. We’ve finally finished all the painting and, though it still needs touch ups, I’m very pleased!

We will actually be posting videos of the build-out this month, so be sure to follow along on our YouTube Channel. We are so far behind on that, but we’re finally making progress with the help of a new team member who’s doing some of the editing for me!

I’ve been deeply lucky to have so many folks helping out both at the trailer and at the museum. It’s been invaluable to have loads of dear people put in so much work!

As I’ve been spending many hours toiling alongside friends and neighbors, I’ve put together a little playlist of some of my favorite music to enjoy while we’re working.
