THE SALE, Security Envelope Pattern Swap, "the Shakedown"
March at the Museum
Hello from the desert!
Things are really coming along in the new museum (aka “The Rig”).
We are *finally* at the delicious stage of moving in our collections! SO many of you have helped us carefully pack a miscellany of dice, tiny people, playing cards, etc., and haul them across town to the trailer where we’ve painted cupboards, lined drawers, frosted windows, secured displays, installed floors and just about all the hand-callousing tasks you can imagine goes into such a project.
We are ACTUALLY now posting the process on YouTube. You can watch me being a real goof in the second installment below. This footage is from back in September, so there’s lots more coming soon. We promise by the time we launch the trailer in April, we’ll be all caught up on the videos of this epic build out.
And! THE SALE is finally happening! Check out the details below!
We’re cooking up something special for April… Our next round of Security Envelope Pattern Swaps! Send and receive more than two dozens pattern swatches with strangers across the globe.
We do all the organizing, send you some starter patterns and a list of fellow swappers for you to send your favorite security envelope swatches to!
Interested in taking part? Just join the waitlist below and we'll send you an email with instructions when we launch next month! (Swaps happen two times a year)
Estate Sale!
All of my beloved collections, furniture, and displays that won’t fit into the trailer are getting recycled to the universe - or, um, to you, fellow collectors.

Flatlay Workshop
Also! These are the last few weeks to catch the show of Office of Collecting & Design photos at the Clark County Library!
It’s not exactly a “closing reception” but the library will be hosting us for a Flatlay Workshop right before the show comes down. If anyone is interested, I hope to see y’all there!

I’ll be honest, I’m barely keeping my head above water these days. We are officially less than two weeks away from our first trailer deadline. On March 12 we will be moving the trailer up to Goldfield, NV to have the exterior painted. While I am SO EXCITED about the paint job, I’m even MORE NERVOUS about the trailer’s first trip. In the world of mobile homes, the first trip after you’ve moved in is called "the Shakedown.” I’m sure you can imagine why.
So, in between now and the 12th, I have to essentially *finish* the trailer. More than just decorating, that means securing every single drawer, every single wall hanging, every single object into place before we send it through a three-hour earthquake. (Not to mention getting new tires, winterizing the plumbing, finalizing our insurance, hiring a trucker, etc, etc.)
Along with that, I have to prep for the sale, do all sorts of administrivia for the business, get ready to move completely out of our brick and mortar (by the end of the month), and prepare to be away for two weeks. (I’m heading out of the country on a super secret scouting trip, that I’m looking forward to telling you about eventually!)
I get back the night before the sale, so all my ducks have to be in a row. It’s gonna be fine. EVERYTHING IS FINE.
I’m sorry I don’t have anything clever or fun to share this month. But next month I’ll be sharing the trailer, so that will be worth all the chaos and stress.
In the meantime, I’m sending you each a dollop of sunshine from the desert,
Jessica
